There is a small white sand beach over some rocks at the far end of the pebble beach, and the better known Peña Rota beach, a seven-minute walk from the house, across a small isthmus. The setting is simply beautiful. Both beaches have fine snorkeling; Peña Rota has a seasonal reef break for experienced surfers. At Casa Mariposa, you will be in a verdant natural environment, with parrots and other birdlife, occasional howler monkey calls, and whale sightings in winter months. Tide pools in your front yard make for hours of exploring by kids and the young at heart. Although San Juan del Sur, with its many excellent restaurants, clubs, and activities, is only a five-minute drive away, you will enjoy complete seclusion and communion with nature.
Powered by solar panels with a battery bank and a generator for backup, Casa Mariposa is completely off the grid. Ceiling and table fans, as well as abundant hot water, are provided for your comfort.
